East of the Mountains

A 73 year old retired widower who has been diagnosed with colon cancer plans a trip to the land of his birth across the mountains in Washington State. He secretly plans to commit suicide on the trip. His car breaks down and he has to choose a different way to arrive at his destination. He meets many kind strangers along the way, but the question remains as to whether he will still decide to kill himself at the end of his journey.
